How it all got started Hi 👋🏼 I’m Eddie Coronado Founder of UpskillHR, and like many of you, I’ve been on the receiving end of some truly terrible management. You know the type—those bosses who make you question every life decision that led you to that moment, those who think "employee engagement" is just a buzzword, and "leadership" means making every meeting a soul-crushing ordeal. Early in my career, I had a front-row seat to the damaging effects of bad management. I saw firsthand how toxic leadership can not only demoralize employees but also derail entire teams and organizations. But instead of letting that experience defeat me, I decided to do something about it. I made it my mission to help others avoid the same pitfalls I encountered. This quest led me to pursue a career in talent management, where I could make a real difference. I earned my master’s degree in HR and became SHRM-SCP certified, diving deep into the world of people operations and discovering that, with the right tools, leadership can be transformative instead of destructive. Now, here’s the funny thing about bad management: it’s like that one terrible date you had—it’s awful at the time, but later, it gives you some amazing stories and a newfound perspective. That’s what happened to me. My passion for talent management grew out of those rough experiences, and I vowed to ensure that no one under my watch would have to endure what I did.
